I wish I updated more.
Goshen is a really, really beautiful place. Despite the moments when you feel down about your self-image, the pile of homework that's due tomorrow, the frustration and hurt of people near and far, the icy wind tearing away layers of skin off your face...I love it here. I love the way the snow looks when it has just fallen and nobody has walked on it. I love the way my spirit gets rejuvenated by hearing another talented musician play or sing. I love getting homework done and having time to take a nap with friends. I love it when people randomly stop to talk to you just because.
So far, the semester is going well for the most part. I have a lot more on my plate this term than I did last term, which seems hard to believe, but everything I'm apart of has a very distinct and honest purpose that I am committed to. I am singing in the Dynamics - a student led group of singers that perform popular arrangements of songs that are more commonly heard on the radio and that appeal to the students here. We are singing "Mercy" by Duffy in this spring's Kickoff (Goshen's all-campus talent show) a week from this Saturday. In addition, I'm still taking piano lessons and practicing 2-3 hours almost everyday. Other than that, it's all academics and student life activities around campus.
Over the weekend, a group of friends and I went to Yellow Springs, Ohio to stay with a couple friends who live there - Brock and Jacob GunderKline, identical twin brothers. I went a couple hours ahead of the rest of the group with Jacob on Friday night to watch his qualifying race-walking race for Nationals and to help take some pictures (and be a proud spectator). We all had such a great time. They showed us around the town, we hung out with their family, watched movies, and enjoyed the time away from Goshen for once. They have such an awesome home and really loving family. I can't wait to go back!
Homework is stopping me from telling you more about my life, sorry. More to come later, as always promised. Please be praying for my protection, my health, my sanity, and my self-esteem level. I'm feeling pretty stressed lately and could use any support I can get.
